Were your ears bleeding a little this morning? That’s probably just a side effect of the approximately millions of late 20-something women across America screaming in unison when they heard the news (according to Page 6) that *NSYNC might be (is probably) reuniting for a performance at MTV’s Video Music Awards this Sunday.

The cream of the crop of late ’90s boy bands (sorry, BSB, I was an *NSYNC gurl all the way) went “Bye, Bye, Bye” way back in the early aughts, totally “Tearin’ Up My (and a gazillion other girls’) Heart(s),” and all we could think for the longest time was, “But… ‘I Want You Back.'” And now they are. (That sentence exhausted all the *NSYNC song title puns I could wring out of my brain on a Tuesday morning.)
This has got to be Justin Timberlake (or, The One That Got Away, as his ex-bandmates probably call him — among other, less kind names born of the kind of envy reserved for former crimped, blond twerps who are now certified hotties traveling the world on massive tours with the likes of Jay Z while their former bandmates are… I don’t know. Lance Bass seems to be doing semi-OK.) throwing a bone to the rest of the gang a la Beyonce letting the Kelly and Michelle sing a couple songs with her at the Super Bowl earlier this year.
Either way, Chris Kirpatrick and the rest of the world are grateful.
