Oprah Winfrey’s $12 million tweet

Oprah Winfrey’s deal with Weight Watchers is turning out to be ridiculously lucrative. Like, stupid profitable. We’re talking amounts of money that are just silly. Case in point: Winfrey recently tweeted about how she was able to lose weight and still eat bread, and over the next hour after tweeting it, shares for Weight Watchers went up nearly 16 percent, according to MarketWatch.

Part of her deal with the dieting giant involves her taking on 6.4 million shares of the company — which means in one hour she earned herself $12 million. I mean, losing weight while still eating bread is a big deal, sure, but $12 million big? The big question is, given her income and wealth, did she even notice?
