Given the extreme success of ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars" and the nearly five-month buildup to its spinoff, "Ravenswood" had every reason to succeed: an established fanbase, great time slot and crossover "PLL" actor Tyler Blackburn should have been enough. But it wasn't. ABC Family is canceling the show after only one season, Deadline reports.
The show started strong with more than 2 million viewers, but by the finale had dropped to 1 million. Comparatively, "Pretty Little Liars" pulls in an average of 4 million viewers each episode and is one of the most visible shows on social media, becoming a trending topic virtually ever time a new episode airs.
"Thanks for all your supportive tweets! Onward and upwards. You never know when you'll see me on screen again," Tyler Blackburn tweeted after the news was announced. "Adieu Ravenswood. Endless gratitude to all of you who supported us along the way. It was a fun ride! Now onto the next," fellow "Ravenswood" star Nicole Anderson tweeted.
