Minnesota Public Radio’s The Current has organized a simulcast of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” at 5:07 p.m. Central Time — 6:07 p.m. ET. The planned broadcast is in reference to the lyric “7 hours and 13 days,” in relationship to Prince’s death at his Paisley Park Estate on April 21.

WFUV in New York and WXPN in Philadelphia will partake in the tribute this evening, and The Current invites fans to contribute via social media, using #NothingCompares2U, to tag videos, photos and Tweets of them singing the song when the clock strikes.

Program director Jim McGuinn says in a statement, “We hope that wherever Prince fans are, and whatever radio station they are listening to, they will take a minute to listen and remember his musical genius and artistry.”

The Current — which proudly reps Prince’s hometown of Minneapolis — also paid tribute to the late rock icon on the day of his passing by streaming nine continuous hours of his music.
