Rebecca Black covers Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” [VIDEO]

Oh dear god, no. Just when we’d come to terms with the fact that Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” (if you haven’t watched this video — which reads like some sort of American Apparel commercial/hipster dream sequence on acid— do it now) was indisputably the Summer Jam of 2k13: this happened.

Rebecca Black, who skyrocketed to Internet famefocus of derision, mockery, and general bemusement with “Friday” (a.k.a. the worst “song” ever produced, auto-tuned, and vomited into cyberspace), has squirmed out of whatever cave one-YouTube-hit wonders crawl into to die and released a cover of “We Can’t Stop.”

This cover is a duet with John D (who’s that? no clue) and is very “stripped down” and “emotive” and “acoustic.” That is to say that Rebecca Black is a very serious artist, ya’ll, and that whole “Friday” debaucle was just a lil’ joke.

No, no it wasn’t. And, what’s more, our ears still bleed a little in a Pavlovian response to even the mere mention of Rebecca Black — who has now effectively ruined this song for us, forever. Can’t stop? We’re begging you to.

On a side note, we’re now accepting submissions for a replacement Summer Jam. Put ’em in the comments if you’ve got ’em!
