Keeping up with celebrity rumors around April Fool’s Day is always dicey, but this one seems to have the whiff of truth about it. Sources are breathlessly confirming that Robert Pattinson is indeed engaged to girlfriend FKA Twigs, news that T-Pain let slip in an interview with Vulture: Will FKA Twigs be on your new album? Wait, she’s engaged? That’s news to me. Pretty sure if she is in fact engaged, she would not want you announcing it on her behalf, no. But there’s a wrinkle: That interview was published on April 1, a notoriously hairy day on the Internet. In fact, the date gave T-Pain the perfect opportunity to walk the whole thing back via an Instagram post:
Well, the first time we even met each other, we met in the studio. Her music’s changed a lot since then. But she’s on tour so much, and anytime I call her, she’s in a different place. And she’s engaged now, so that’s about to be a whole other thing. [Laughs.]
Yeah, to ol’ Patty [Robert Pattinson]. I don’t know if she wanted anybody to know that …
Which seems dubious at best, honestly. If he did mean it as an April Fool’s prank, then he’d have to know the article would be publishing that day when he did the interview. And that’s really, really subtle as far as pranks go. So color me skeptical. If Pattinson and Ms. Twigs are in fact already engaged, one thing is for sure: Kristen Stewart is not pleased. “When Kristen first heard that Rob and FKA Twigs are engaged, she felt devastated,” a source tells Hollywood Life. “She doesn’t want to believe it’s true and was seriously hoping that this was just some sort of April Fool’s joke.” If that’s the case, T-Pain has some good news for you.
