Singer Andy Williams dies at 84 after battle with bladder cancer

Legendary singer Andy Williams has died at the age of 84, following a battle with bladder cancer, his family has announced. He passed away at his home in Branson, Missouri.

Williams, whose career spanned an impressive 75 years in show business, announced to fans on stage in November of 2011 that he had been diagnosed, but had every intention of beating cancer, according to People magazine.

Williams rose to fame in the 60s following his popular rendition of “Moon River.” He got his start in a quartet with his brothers Bob, Dick and Don. He went on to a successful solo career and a stint in television with NBC’s “The Andy Williams Show” from 1962 to 1971. Williams had 17 gold and three platinum records during his time in music.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie, and his three children from a former marriage with dancer Claudine Longet, Robert, Noelle and Christian.
