Soulja Boy: Will the military forgive him?

Soulja Boy: Open mouth. Insert foot.

The rapper is desperately immersed in damage control after the fallout surrounding a song with some pretty controversial lyrics.

Some background: A couple days ago Soulja Boy posted a video for his new song “Let’s Be Real.” Soulja Boy got very real in the song rapping the lyric, “F**k the FBI and the army troops.”

Well, not surprisingly, that line didn’t go over too well with the troops (no word though on how the FBI feels about it). Soulja Boy got plenty of backlash from members of the military and Army and Air Force Exchange Service even boycotted his upcoming album from the shelves of its stores.

Soulja Boy has apologized to the military through a blog post on GlobalGrind.com titled “I Am Deeply Sorry To All Members Of The United States Military Services And Their Families.”

In it, he wrote: “As an artist, I let my words get the best of me. Sometimes there are things that we feel, things that we want to express, and when we put them on paper and speak them out loud, they can come out wrong.”

Now a rep from Soulja Boy’s management team has told TMZ that “Let’s Be Real” will not even be on his soon-to-be-released album.

Apparently, the rapper is willing to do whatever it takes to mend his relationship with the troops. He’ll even offer meet-and-greets and free shows for the military.

Don’t count on a packed house, Soulja Boy.
