Amanda Seyfried and "Star Trek Into Darkness" star Chris Pine are set to co-star in an upcoming film adaptation of the young adult post-apocalyptic book "Z for Zachariah," according to Variety. Seyfried will play a young woman who runs a farm, believing herself to be the last survivor of a nuclear apocalypse, until Pine's character turns up. They'll join Chewitel Ejiofor in the film, which is set to begin production later this summer.
Presumably this is one of those nuclear apocalypses that either kills you or turns you into an impossibly beautiful specimen of blondness. Hate those. But if two people had to repopulate the human race, at least Seyfried and Pine would make Humans 2.0 pleasingly shiny-haired and dimpled.
Hanging out in the future is nothing new for Pine, who plays Captain James T. Kirk in the sequel to J.J. Abrams’ highly acclaimed reboot of the famous franchise.
“It’s a lot of fun. I love Kirk,” said Pine at the Sydney premiere, reprising his role as the suave captain in the film.
“Kirk’s a man of passion who’s ruled by his heart. He’ll go from crying to laughing to yelling to loving, and I just love his passion.”
