The Word: Amy Adams slams Hollywood's diet obsession

"Man of Steel" star Amy Adams may be under pressure to conform to Hollywood's stick-thin ideal for women, but she does her best not to succumb.

Amy Adams revisted her "Enchanted" days in this ethereal Oscar de la Renta frock. Amy Adams doesn't put much stock in Hollywood's ideal of beauty.

"Man of Steel" star Amy Adams may be under pressure to conform to Hollywood's stick-thin ideal for women, but she does her best not to succumb. "Some of these actresses or public personas who are very public about their disciplined diets, more power to them. I just don't see the point," she told Allure. "Do you know, the people I love as actresses, I've never, ever sought out pictures of them to see what they look like in a swimsuit."

Speaking as someone who writes for The Internet: Sorry, Amy, but a large number of people do seek those out. But keep fighting the good fight.

Much has been made of the absence of Superman’s signature red panties in the new Superman film. But “Man of Steel” star Henry Cavill had a different issue with his costume: It’s all one piece, which made it very difficult for him to go to the bathroom.

“It’s quite a tight suit,” he told theNew York Post. “Going to the lavatory wasn’t the easiest thing. It would take some time to get in and out, [so] I’d have to wait. [While filming] in Chicago, I could drink as much as I wanted because I’d sweat, and it would be fine. But [in] Vancouver, where it was cold ... I got one bottle of water every half-day — brutal.”
