"Glee" will deal head-on with the tragic death of its star Cory Monteith: His character, Finn Hudson, will reportedly also die of drug-related causes.
Apparently, Monteith's girlfriend and costar Lea Michele, who plays Rachel Berry on "Glee," was a key advocate for this storyline. "Lea wants it to reflect the truth, to warn people what can happen," a source told Us Weekly.
Finn Hudson was last seen embracing the fraternity lifestyle, so a drug storyline isn't a stretch to write in. Watching the cast sing about the real death of their friend, though, promises to be excruciating. But it probably would be in any case.
Poor Lea Michele is an incredible trouper. Just weeks after her boyfriend and “Glee” co-star Cory Monteith’s sudden death from a drug overdose, she’s already back to work on the show where they met.
“First day of glee today..And at my first wardrobe fitting for Rachel Berry for Season Five! I’ve missed her so much❤,” Michele tweeted last week.
The actress is likely filming one of the series’ first episodes, but she and the rest of the cast and crew have what’s sure to be a heartbreaking task ahead: The third episode of the upcoming season will address Monteith’s death. After that, they’ll take a break so the production team can reshape the season without Monteith.
