Move over, Garfield: Grumpy Cat is coming to the big screen.
According to Deadline, the sourpuss with the face that launched a thousand memes is ready for her closeup. Her reps are working with screenwriters Todd Garner and Sean Robins to develop a feature-length, Garfieldesque project around Grumpy Cat.
The team of screenwriters and Hollywood professionals — all of whom probably once saw "The Third Man" and got chills and thought, "That's what I want to do with my life" — will develop a film in which Grumpy Cat talks. How will that work, since Grumpy Cat (real name Tardar Sauce) is a house cat and not a trained working animal? I'm sure they'll find a way around it. But Grum-C better watch out. They've already changed her name. Fresh-faced ingenues always fare well at first, but where will she be when the champagne and catnip run out?
The cat became an Internet sensation last fall with photos of her grouchy face going viral. More recently, Grumpy Cat was a huge hit during SXSW at the Mashable House, a lounge run by the tech-news website.
According to CNN.com, people waited in lines that snaked around the block for hours just to get their picture taken with the cat.
