Cory Monteith's shocking death in a Vancouver hotel on Saturday has clearly left everyone who knew him reeling. Surely for most of his friends and colleagues, what will become of his "Glee" character is the last thing on their minds.
Unfortunately, producers of one of the biggest hits on TV don't have the option of waiting to deal with the loss of one of their central characters. With production on the fall season scheduled to begin in just a few weeks, they'll have to move fast to determine what to do about Finn.
According to The Wrap, the "Glee" team hasn't yet decided whether to continue production as scheduled, or to delay it until they've regrouped. There's also no word yet on what will be done about Monteith's character. Finn was last seen settling into college after leaving the glee club behind at last, so the show could presumably leave him there, happily studying offscreen. But considering the show's willingness to tackle difficult emotional topics, not to mention how it positioned Finn as the major love interest for Rachel (played by Lea Michele, who was also dating Monteith in real life) — well, it seems far more likely that this season of "Glee" will be the most heartbreaking one yet.
