It was comedy nerds' greatest real-life soap opera since Conan vs. Jay. And now it might be back for Round Two.
Is ousted "Community" creator Dan Harmon returning to the show? According to Hollywookiee, who recently attended a live taping of Harmon's podcast, the volatile writer/producer says he's been asked to come back next season.
Harmon initially said he'd edit the news of his potential return out of the podcast and asked his live audience to keep it under their hats, but then decided, "Ahhh f**k it. I don’t care who knows!"
Maybe Harmon doesn't care, but his once and future bosses at NBC might. Blabbing prematurely about secret negotiations doesn't seem like the best way to convince them he's ready to play nice, since shooting his mouth off was reportedly part of why he was pushed out in the first place.
This season saw largely low Nielsen numbers for “Community,” whose current season is its first without jettisoned creator/show runner Harmon. (Chevy Chase has also departed, but he quit after shooting most of his episodes for the season.) Even the cult show’s champions have been skeptical of its ability to maintain quality control, and the discouraging numbers suggest there’s a chance it may not make it out of the season alive.
