Nigella Lawson appeared in public yesterday for the first time since leaving the home she shared with her husband, Charles Saatchi, this weekend. Lawson stepped out of her rented apartment in Mayfair, London, for breakfast, and she wasn't wearing her wedding ring, according to the Sun.
Lawson looked tense and worried as she paced up and down the street, having left the restaurant to take a phone call. Lawson and Saatchi met up earlier this week for a meal at the same restaurant where the choking incident took place, at which point she was still wearing her ring.
So is their marriage over? Unclear - Saatchi hasn't made a public statement since he accepted a police caution for assault, and Lawson has remained entirely silent.
TV chef Nigella Lawson’s husband attacked her in broad daylight at a London restaurant, according to the Mirror. The UK newspaper has photos of Nigella’s husband, advertising executive Charles Saatchi, locking his hands around her neck several times and apparently choking her as she appears to try to pull his hands away. Lawson later left the restaurant in tears.
Although the incident went on for several minutes in clear view of the street and their fellow diners, onlookers were apparently too shocked to intervene. Bystanders said that Lawson appeared to be trying to soothe her husband, laying her hand on top of his and at one point kissing him on the cheek.
