The whole gang really is getting back together. Just days before the new "Veronica Mars" movie begins shooting, it's been announced that another former cast member has signed on: Francis Capra will reprise his role as Weevil Navarro, the motorcycle tough with a heart of gold.
"I couldn't be happier that he'll be back with us for the film," director Rob Thomas said in an email to the production's Kickstarter backers.
Apparently Weevil won't be the only last minute casting addition - Thomas says to expect several more over the next few days. "You're still wondering about your other favorites. I said every day this week, didn't I?" he teased in his email, according to E! Online.
The "Veronica Mars" film was the first of what's become a slew of high-profile Hollywood projects turning to Kickstarter. Woody Allen now officially knows how crowdfunding works, and it’s all thanks to “Garden State” star and Kickstarter aficionado Zach Braff.
Apparently, the day actor/director Braff’s $2 million Kickstarter campaign for his film “Wish I Was Here” got funded, he happened to be meeting with Allen. “Everyone else in the room was like, ‘Oh my God! Congratulations! That’s insane! I can’t believe it worked! No one thought it would work,’” Braff said on Sirius XM radio. “And he clearly didn’t know what anyone was talking about, so I started explaining it to him.”
