If you haven’t seen “Trailer Park Boys,” the Canadian television mockumentary series which ran from 2001-2007, it’s something like “Entourage” minus the swag, or maybe “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” but a bit less insane.
Scared yet? You should be. Although fans might know the boys more recently from their full-length movies or even their live stage shows, Ricky, Julian and Bubbles will be celebrating an end to their television hiatus soon with a new season of “Trailer Park Boys” — which will air on their own SwearNet.com.
Do you think Christmas sucks and need a little more humbug in your life? Step into the double-wide with Trailer Park Boys’ own Ricky and Bubbles, who are on tour performing their holiday special “Dear Santa, Go F#@k Yourself.”
Tell me a little bit about what Christmas means to you in the trailer park.
Bubbles: Well, the whole point of the thing for me is to teach people that Santa kind of represents the craziness of the whole thing. You picture Santa and I picture people at the mall, all punching each other in the face, kicking each other in the bird, trying to get the last toy off the shelf. And that’s not what Christmas is about and I want to spread the true meaning of Christmas.
Ricky: Everybody just gets stoned and we party a lot. It’s our favorite time of the year.
Do you guys have arguments about whether Santa is real?
Ricky: Well, I know he’s real because I got in a fight with him last year. I thought he was taking my presents — not leaving them — and I sucker punched him. He actually beat me up pretty bad. So I’m hoping to apologize at the show and make sure he’s going to bring me presents this year.
Does Santa look like he does in all the stories, in real life?
Ricky: He hit me so hard. He hit me in the nuts and I pretty much passed out. I got a good look at him, so I know exactly what he looks like. He wears sunglasses, which I thought was kind of cool. It was kind of a cheap shot, but I guess if you’re Santa then you can get away with it.
So what did he give you? Did he leave you anything or did you piss him off so bad that he took everything?
He left me a couple of gifts. But I don’t know if he left me as much as he was supposed to. He was pretty pissed off.
Bubbles, I know that you’re a big animal lover. Do you think that Christmas is special for animals too?
Oh, absolutely. I think Christmas is a very special time for kitties. I take all my kitties around Christmas and give them all nice belly-work. And make sure they are all taken care of. Feed them. Things like that.
So you think Christmas is really more about being good to the ones you love?
Bubbles: Yeah, I think it’s about spending some good quality time with your friends and family and getting really high and drunk with them.
