TV Watch List: Wednesday, October 30

The original The original “Halloween” is still the creepiest.

Metro’s Wednesday night TV breakdown.

‘Halloween’
CLASSIC HORROR MOVIE. There have been so many incarnations of this movie — featuring indisputably scariest movie killer of all time Michael Myers — that it can be hard to keep track. From the cheeseball late ’80s reduxes, to the ‘90s Josh Hartnett (and L.L. Cool J!) vehicle to Rob Zombie’s recent over-the-top gore fests, each new addition has brought something different to the franchise. However, this, the original John Carpenter-directed “Halloween,” will forever remain the touchstone for horror.

‘19 Kids and Counting’
REALITY. What’s scarier than Michael Myers’ sinister white mask and a death waltz with a cold blade? Being the parents to 19 children. Which is why we’re one hundred percent certain that the Duggers are out of their damn minds. That’s true insanity. Tonight, they say goodbye to one of their many, many progeny when he moves to D.C.
8 p.m., DFH

‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’
ALMOST CLASSIC HORROR MOVIE. In terms of scariest horror movie psycho, it must be said that Leatherface gives Michael a solid run for his murderous money. While Myers silently creeps behind doors, Leatherface bursts through them, accompanied by what now defines the sound of true terror — the death-knell snarl of the chainsaw. Unfortunately, this isn’t the original flick, but the 2003 Jessica Biel remake. It still gets the job done in terms of scares, though, and makes up for unoriginality with plenty of gore.
