Sad news today from Atlanta: Usher’s oldest son with ex-wife Tameka Raymond, Usher Raymond V, is in the ICU due to almost drowning in the singer’s pool.
According to TMZ, the 5-year-old dove into the family pool to fish a toy caught in the drain, catching his hand and trapping him underwater. His aunt immediately dove in but couldn’t pull him out. A maid also tried to free the child. Finally, two men working on the house were able to pull him loose. At that point, he was unconscious and was given CPR. Usher, who was not home at the time of the accident, was able to return home in time to ride in the ambulance with his son to the hospital.
This is the last thing the Raymond family needs. Tameka’s oldest son from a previous relationship, Kile, died last year from injuries sustained in a jet ski accident. He was only 11-years-old.
