Even if you weren’t alive yet, you remember George Michael’s iconic supermodel-packed “Freedom” music video. Linda Evangelista , Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Tatjana Patitz danced in their lingerie, lounged in bathtubs and gave major face while lip-synching to the 1990 track. More than 25 years later, it still stands.
BUT — that was then, and this is now, and Vogue called in director Gordon von Steiner to give the concept a 26th anniversary facelift. Von Steiner — who also created those dope light-installation portraits at this year’s MET Gala — shot mega models Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls, Anna Ewers, Irina Shayk, Taylor Hill, Liu Wen, Imaan Hammam, Gracie Hartzel and more for the abridged rendition featuring the Spring 2017 collections. The girls strut, shake and work the camera in scenes across New York, including the Plaza Hotel and Times Square.
Big shoes to fill for this one, but we suppose that’s why they pay these ladies the big bucks. Double taps for likes all around.
