Warped Tour singer tends to get lost in Motion

Motion City Soundtrack joined this year’s Warped Tour in mid-June, adding 20 additional dates to a yearlong worldwide trek for the emo popsters’ major label debut, “My Dinosaur Life.” High-energy frontman Jus-tin Pierre couldn’t wait for the album’s release on Columbia Records last January though. So, at the end of ’09 he hit the road solo on his “Dino Trail” acoustic tour.

“I get into trouble when I have too much time on my hands. But I have this theory; it seems like whenever I didn’t have any time, I would make time to be creative. When I worked two jobs, I would find time to write songs. When I do this for a living, I get lazy and play video games in my free time. The busier you are …” he pauses in search of a bon mot. The busier you are? “Exactly.”

His first-ever solo trek went fine, but it put Pierre right in the spotlight, sometimes uncomfortably so.

“I have a tendency to forget words, so I try and cover up for it and blame the audience and get really irate. I can’t tell if they know I’m joking sometimes,” he says.
