Watch a year in the life of a ‘Saturday Night Live’ actor

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty over those “a picture every day for a year/5 years/10 years” videos. I guess I’m slightly fascinated that apparently a bunch of people decided to embark on such a project independently of each other around 2003 or so, but otherwise, haircuts, I get it.

This one, though, is a little different. Because halfway through Brooks Wheelan’s yearlong video-a-day project, he got cast on “Saturday Night Live.”

What follows is a glancing but compelling look at the life of a newbie “SNL” actor: table reads, repeated attempts to master a skateboard trick in the hallways of Rockefeller Center and Kenan Thompson entering a revolving door with his arms full of tinsel. This is the stuff young comedians’ dreams are made of.

You can watch the video below. It’s neat to see the SNL cast and crew in flashes of unguarded moments. Honestly, though, the most mesmerizing part for me is how nice Brooks’ life wasbefore he got SNL. Did he go on vacation four times before August?
