Willow Smith has brought her crush home to meet her family. “Welcome,” her mother Jada says. “We’ve heard so much about you,” then straightens her apron and rushes off to check the roast. Will Smith and Jaden Smith wander by, joshing the sweethearts. “Be good to my little girl, now,” Will says. When they’ve gone, Willow, heart beating fast, brushes her friend’s hand with her own.
“Would you like to come see my room?” she whispers, biting her lip. “It’s… it’s full of snakes.”
Willow Smith’s room is full of snakes. The above excerpt from my fanfiction “The Smith Family at Home” is imaginary, especially the part about Jada in an apron, but the snakes are apparently very real. Willow,13, has 10 of them and they live in her room and only some of them have cages, an insider told the Daily Mail.
Willow’s pets include a 5-year-old boa constrictor named Beauty. Her brother, Jaden, is also apparently a fan of the family snakes, which he calls his ‘girlfriends.’ “They slither into his bed and curl up with him!” the source says.
It’s stuff like this that makes me slightly less worried when I see, say, Willow posing in bed with an adult man. I strongly get the feeling that Willow Smith, though 13, can now and forever take care of herself. This is the gaze of a woman who knows that if that dude tries anything, a snake will come nightmaring out of her pocket and bite him.
