Now that Amazon has a couple of Golden Globes under its belt, the streaming service is really stepping up its game by wrangling its highest-profile collaborator yet. Amazon has signed up Woody Allen to write and direct a series for the service, his first foray into television. (Amazon’s stuff is considered television, right?) Like pretty much everything else he’s done in the last decade, the series is currently called “Untitled Woody Allen Project” because he names things later. In fact, Allen already has a feature film called “Untitled Woody Allen Project” in post-production that’s set for release later this year.

Also, this is the first time Amazon has ordered a project straight to series without letting subscribers weigh in on the pilot first. In a statement about the news, Allen said, “I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that [Amazon VP] Roy Price will regret this.” We’ll see!
