Zayn Malik opens up about eating disorder in new memoir

It’s not very often that we hear guys talk about body image and struggles with food and eating. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t affected by the same issues their gal pals are. Former One Direction member, and current boyfriend of supermodel Gigi Hadid, Zayn Malik opened up about his eating disorder in his new memoir, “Zayn,” Perez Hilton reports. The 23-year-old, who has spoken publicly about his issues with anxiety, reflected on his One Direction days where he lost unhealthy amounts of weight.

“I didn’t feel like I had control over anything else in my life, but food was something I could control, so I did… I had lost so much weight I had become ill,” he says in the book. “The workload and the pace of life on the road put together with the pressures and strains of everything going on within the band had badly affected my eating habits.”
