A condo with tons of privacy

One drawback to condo living is the lack of privacy. Even at best, sometimes there’s no escaping your neighbors in the public areas. That’s not a problem with a two-condo development on Green Street in Jamaica Plain, which recently came on the market.

One drawback to condo living is the lack of privacy. Even at best, sometimes there’s no escaping your neighbors in the public areas. That’s not a problem with a two-condo development on Green Street in Jamaica Plain, which recently came on the market.

“There are no common areas,” says listing agent Christian Iantosca of Arborview Realty. “The staircases, entrances, outdoor areas and even parking are all self-contained and private.” There is one unit on each level and both have a private direct entrance (one unit enters on the left side, one on the right side of the building). They each have private directly-accessed outdoor space too, and their own numbers — 16 is the first-floor, larger condo, and 18 is the second floor.

The house — which was built in 1880, and had been in the same family with very little updating since the depression — was recently gutted and renovated. Even the foundation was reinforced. However, both units include incredible period detailing. “It was re-created in keeping with the era,” says Iantosca.

Still, the condos both have an airy, bright modern feel, and each even has a built-in, surround-sound system controlled by an iPod dock in the kitchen. Even the original owners were impressed when they came to the open house. “They were blown away at how beautiful it looks,” says Iantosca. “Tears were shed.”
