A rave in Shoreditch, London has people dancing at the wee hours of the morning — before work, that is. This BBC video shows producers Sam Moyo and Nico Thoemmes flanked by a warehouse of revelers in various stages of flourescent clothing participating in their event, Morning Glory: Rave Your Way Into the Day."
The classic plastic solo cups are filled with superfood smoothies (hold the vodka) for those who arrive between 6:30 and 10:30 am. There is a solid amount of jumping around, hula hoops and hugging, according to one of the event's producers.
Though there are people rubbing up on one another, they're not on drugs: massage therapists kick start that happy morning feeling.
"There's lots of hugs and general love and fun before going to work," says Moyo. "That festival environment is bringing it back in...you can love it and you can do it, and you don't need all the drugs and alcohol."
The event is on Wednesdays, and costs 10 pounds. A heads up: If the idea of being greeted by "children of the morning" first thing after waking up makes you grouchy, you might want to opt for a double espresso and skip the party.
