Coconut water isn’t the only byproduct of the fruit that’s having a moment. Coconut oil is popping up in the ingredient list of a ton of beauty products. The oil — a favorite among green-loving celebs such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Miranda Kerr — acts as a natural solution for everything from whitening teeth to treating damaged locks.

“Coconut oil is made of medium-chain fatty acids and is extremely hydrating, so it’s great for moisturizing skin and making hair shiny,” says NYC dermatologist and author of “Skin Rules,” Dr. Debra Jaliman. “It also has wonderful anti-inflammatory effects that help irritated skin.”

Jaliman does recommend avoiding the product if you’re blemish-prone. But otherwise, slather it on dry feet, rough elbows and post-beach skin. Click through some of our favorite coconut based products below.

“I love coconut oil. I use it for everything! Chapped lips, cuticles, making pancakes — I always have a jar around. It’s a great healthy fat to add to your diet. And it smells good.” — Scarlett Johansson
