Best colleges for producing interns

Internships can be a vital part of the college experience no matter your chosen field of study. At a time when new graduates are competing for jobs more fiercely than ever, it can only help to have some real life, hands-on experience on your resume.

U.S. News & World Report has released its list of the 10 National universities producing the most interns. These colleges were ranked based on the percentage of 2010 graduates who had internship experience. Did your school make the list? Do you think it should have?

1. American University: 85 percent graduate with internship experience

2. Colorado School of Mines: 81 percent graduate with internship experience

3. Dartmouth College: 72 percent graduate with internship experience

4. University of Pittsburgh: 69 percent graduate with internship experience

5. George Washington University: 66 percent graduate with internship experience

6. Florida Institute of Technology: 60 percent graduate with internship experience

7. South Carolina State University: 60 percent graduate with internship experience

8. University of Massachusetts- Amherst: 57 percent graduate with internship experience

9. Pace University: 57 percent graduate with internship experience

10. University of South Dakota: 53 percent graduate with internship experience
