Cambridge College – School of Psychology and Counseling

It’s a $3 trillion+ industry – and it’s growing.

According to Forbes magazine, that is how much the United States spends annually on healthcare costs. Indeed, the Bureau of Labor cites the health care sector as one of the fastest growing in our economy with employment of medical and health service managers expected to increase by 17% from 2014 to 2024.
An aging population that is living longer – and staying more active — than ever before combined with sophisticated medical treatments mean increasing demands for medical and healthcare management professionals to manage the business side of healthcare.
In response, Cambridge College has created a specialized Master of Business Administration in Health Care (MBA-HC) program that has been designed to meet the needs of healthcare employers.
“Cambridge College’s Master of Business Administration in Health Care program is unique,” says Mary Ann Joseph, PhD, and Dean of the School of Management. “Students take five health care specific
courses in addition to learning the analytics and financial side to manage the business of health care.”
Dr. Joseph explains that the carefully designed MBA-HC curriculum is taught by faculty who are practicing managers and experts in the fields–and in consultation with advisors who are industry leaders. “Students attend classes with other healthcare professionals, allowing them to exchange insights with colleagues in the field,” she says. “The core curriculum includes courses with a healthcare focus and incorporates a powerful combination of critical thinking, data analysis, project management, financial and technological skills with communication, self-management, teamwork and leadership skills.Students may specialize in healthcare management or health care informatics.”
The program is geared to fit the needs of professionals already working in health care, offering flexible schedules and classes during evenings and weekends at all of its locations in Cambridge, Lawrence, and Springfield. Admission is based on candidates’ background rather than test taking, so GMAT scores are not required.
