Cursing at college? Humor helps

A few years ago, writer and comedian Gregory Bergman received a WTF? text from his younger brother.

“I was like, ‘What the hell is that?’ And my little brother was like, ‘It’s ‘what the f—?’ you idiot,’” says Bergman from his L.A. home.

“So I decided to write four books called ‘WTF?’.”

Three years and four books later, Bergman has built a career around the ubiquitous text-ism. And now he and co-writer Jodi Miller are tackling higher education in “WTF? College: How to Survive 101 of Campus’s Worst F*#!-ing Situations.”

“I would say it’s maybe 30 percent genuine advice,” says Miller, a longtime stand-up comedian. “But even in the genuine moments, we’re always pushing it for laughs, so it’s tough to say.”

For instance, “It’s not actually a good idea to knock up your professor,” jokes Miller.

“Or push her down an escalator,” says Bergman. “But that’s just what the lawyer told me to say.”

Miller says she doesn’t have many regrets from her personal college experience, save one: “I would have had more sex,” she says. “Here I was thinking I had reputation to protect, but you’re not going to remember any those people after college.”
