Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne loosened up the power suits they created for their DKNY debut last season and got gritty. For fall, they showed deconstructed versions of the Wall Street uniform, with cropped pinstriped suit jackets and clownishly big pants with suspenders (the boyish, oversized proportions were a nod to ’90s girl groups like TLC). Also down the runway: silky slip dresses and shinny puffers that felt ready for a postapocalyptic world. But what do today’s ladies want to wear? Our bet is on the nonchalant gray boiled-wool sweatpants and closing series of tough sweatshirts with cheeky takes on DKNY like “Don’t Knock New York” and “Designers Know Nothing Yet.”
