Want to be rich one day? Consider majoring in some form of engineering.
According to new data from the Hamilton Project — which researches proposals that promote economic advancement — nine fields of engineering hold the Top 7 spots on its list of professions with the highest average total career earnings.
Chemical engineers came first on the list, earning an average total of 2.11 million dollars. They were followed by aerospace engineers, energy engineers and computer engineers.
The Hamilton Project researchers also note the huge advantage college grads have over the general population. “The typical graduate in every college major will out-earn the typical high school graduate by at least $200,000 over the career,” the authors note.
