Everything you need to know about Chobani’s new flavors

Chobani 6oz July 2013 Each Chobani 6 oz. cup is $1.29.

Yogurt fans love Chobani because it’s just as tasty as it is healthy. Now, the love affair goes further, as the dairy purveyor has introduced a slew of new yummy flavors and varieties.

The Chobani Flip line is relatively new; it pairs Greek yogurt with a cup of mix-ins for a customizable snack. In September, fans oohed and ahhed over Low-Fat Honey Yogurt with Banana; now, there are three new flavors: Blueberry Power (blueberry nonfat Greek yogurt with chia seeds, hemp seeds and walnuts), Tropical Escape (pineapple and coconut blended low-fat Greek yogurt with toasted coconut, hazelnut and granola) and Nutty for Nana (banana low-fat Greek yogurt with honey roasted salted almonds and dark chocolate).

Chobani Bite is also relatively new to store shelves — it’s a smaller serving of Chobani for those times when a whole cup is just too much. Now, it’s available in tantalizing Honey with Ginger and the ice-cream like Mint with Dark Chocolate Chips. We’re gonna try freezing that flavor to see if we can turn it into the healthiest fro-yo on the block…

Of course, the yogurt maker is also sticking to its originals:fruit-inspired flavors. The newest crop — apricot, blackberry, coconut, key lime and the creamsicle-like orange vanilla — were all inspired by fan requests. And there are also new additions to Chobani’s kids line, Chobani Champions.

Even though Chobani’s labels say its products are only made with natural ingredients and real fruit, the yogurt company has taken some heat recently for its purported use of cows on a GMO-laden diet. GMO Inside, a non-GMO group in the U.S., is trying to get Chobani to stop marketing its products as “real” and “natural” until they start using milk that is verified as non-GMO (people can sign the petition at www.gmoinside.org/takeaction). For those concerned about GMOs in their yogurt, Chobani sent us this statement:

Our team is dedicated to addressing GMOs and is currently navigating its complexities, specific to dairy. As it stands now, we do not claim to be GMO-free. According to some, doing so would require us to ensure the feed to 78,000+ cows, across 875+ farms is 100% GMO-free. It requires teamwork among our employees, farmers and industry partners.

If you’re interested in giving the new Chobani products a whirl for yourself, they’re in grocery stores now.
