Man bags out, backpacks in

Topman_0425 TMD design nylon contrast panel oversized backpack, $160, www.topman.com

Just as you get used to owning a man bag, fashion takes a U-turn. Annoying? Slightly. But at least with the backpack, your pals won’t snigger and you won’t spend the first ten minutes of every conversation explaining why it’s not a shopper, handbag or tote. This season and, yes, next season (small victory) backpacks will be on trend. Forget wearing it on one shoulder like some teen reprobate, the runway says double-straps: it’s better for your posture and you don’t end up with your jacket going skew-whiff like some slovenly schoolboy. Here’s what we’re backing for spring.
