It isn’t a fashion film if it doesn’t have a clothing line attached to it. Brooks Brothers is taking the menswear looks they provided for the screen to the store with its Great Gatsby-inspired collection. Yep, that means you can get hold of Jay Gatsby’s Twenties tailoring. “Brooks Brothers is mentioned numerous times in Fitzgerald’s writings as a representation of the ultimate gentleman’s purveyor of fine clothing to the American man of distinction,” says Catherine Martin, the costume designer behind the film’s 500-strong wardrobe, in a statement.

“The Great Gatsby” collection, which includes suits, shirts, ties, waistcoats and formalwear, is an interpretation of the film’s looks rather than a stitch-for-stitch reproduction. After all, no man wants to waltz around town in what is little more than fancy dress. However, the Twenties were about champagne-fueled, hedonistic razzle-dazzle, and these clothes capture that. Take, for instance, the white tailored suit, pictured above, buttercup yellow pocket square and two-tone brogues. You’ll agree – it’s quite a look. But, in our opinion, the wearability of the bottle green shawl knit cardigan (as seen in the movie) is likely to make it the biggest seller.
