Even when you have a padded bank account and tons of support, getting ready for a new baby can be overwhelming. Imagine trying to prepare with limited resources and a deployed spouse.
Heidi Klum gave 125 military moms-to-be a little extra support by throwing them a massive baby shower, in conjunction with a Babies 'R' Us program called Operation Shower initiative.
The program started in 2007 when one woman gave some baby essentials to a pregnant woman whose husband was deployed. When Babies 'R' Us heard about this simple act of kindness, it started donating gift cards, giving more than 200 military families the things they needed for a new baby. Klum's party, held yesterday, is the biggest shower the organization has had yet.
The expectant moms were completely surprised with what awaited them at Universal Studios' Globe Theatre in Los Angeles. Part of the gift package that the moms received were new clothes from Klum's new children's line, Truly Scrumptious, which includes bedding, nursery accessories and clothes. After meeting Klum and receiving their gifts, everyone mingled and played traditional baby shower games.
