In another move toward our eventual enslavement by robots, computers can now whip up delicious culinary delights.
IBM’s Watson, who already conquered the world of game shows with a standout performance on “Jeopardy!”, has turned its cold, unfeeling eye to the culinary arts. Yeah. Computers can cook now.
Scientists have created a tasteful algorithm that allows Watson to think up new and innovative spins on food from around the globe. So far our future overlord has come up with ceviche fish and chips and Vietnamese apple kebabs, among others. According to researchers, Watson can design recipes lowly human chefs haven’t thought of thanks to its ability to analyze ingredients on the molecular level. So cherish your lavish lifestyles while you can, celebrity chefs.
The coolest part? This isn’t just speculative food science. IBM, along with Watson, has set up a food truck in Austin, Texas, to show off the computer-generated grub. It’s there as part of the SXSW festival, and will remain until March 11.
