Karl Lagerfeld is just full of surprises. As if sending Kendall Jenner down the runway wasn't enough to get people talking, the designer concluded his Fall 2014 Chanel Haute Couture show in Paris with a maternity dress. What's next? A plus-size line?
To be fair, he only designed one maternity dress, and it is a maternity wedding gown. Not only that, he designed it for someone specific: model Ashleigh Good who modeled the dress, kissing Lagerfeld on the cheek at the end of the runway. The two are close friends and Ashleigh Good is currently seven months pregnant. The dress was well-received at the show. As you can see by the photo, Anna Wintour can hardly contain herself.
Good isn't the first person to wear a Chanel maternity bridal gown. Drew Barrymore wore a Chanel gown to her wedding when she married Will Kopel in 2012. But celebrity royalty is one thing. Wearing Chanel to your own shotgun wedding probably isn't going to happen anytime soon.
