With Labor Day weekend approaching, hair removal is probably on your mind. One of our favorite salons in the city for waxing and threading also offers a service called sugaring. Owner Hibba Kapil tells us why this might be a better option for you.
What is sugaring?
It’s a popular Middle Eastern process, similar to waxing, that uses a gel made with sugar, lemon and water.
What are the benefits?
It’s gentler. Most waxes contain titanium dioxide, which is like a glue that sticks to your skin, but sugar doesn’t pull your skin. People who are allergic to wax or who have psoriasis can use sugar.
Is it less painful than waxing?
I think it’s the same. The results are just 100 times better. Your hair will grow finer and softer. However, it doesn’t work for everyone. If a customer has been shaving for a while, we start them with waxing first.
