Protect your ears this Fourth of July

LW Fireworks

We told you about how to protect your children while you are enjoying fireworks festivities this Fourth of July holiday.

Also, here are some tips on how to enjoy fireworks safely.

But one thing — or two things — that can’t be overlooked during dispensing safety tips for the holiday? Your ears.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association reminds revelers to protect their hearing with these tips:

-Wear earplugs.
-Maintain a healthy distance from fireworks.
-Avoid sounds at or above 85 decibels, which can cause hearing loss. Exploding fireworks can top 130 decibels.

ASHA also provides more information in their “Listen to Your Buds” campaign.
