Runners can now have race day insurance

9th Annual More Magazine / Fitness Magazine Women's Half-Marathon Can’t make it on the big day? There’s help.

Race participants can now register for major races without having to worry about untimely illness, injury, or last minute race day obligations. RacePartner, a online registration tool for race directors, is working with Allianz Global Assistance to ensure that both the participants and the races don’t lose out because of an unforeseen roadblock.

“Registration insurance gives our clients’ participants the confidence that they have a back-up plan when they need to cancel a race for a covered reason,” says Robert Anderson, Co-Founder of RacePartner.

The program, called “Registration Protector,” is set to began later this summer and will provide race participations the option to purchase a registration insurance that will get 100 percent of their fees reimbursed in case they can’t make the event.

One of the first events to utilize the program is Warrior Dash, the world’s largest obstacle race series that pits contestants through a 5K run across fire, mud and a host of other obstacles.

“At Warrior Dash, we pride ourselves on having excellent customer service. By partnering with Allianz Global Assistance, we are providing our racers with another way to increase their registration satisfaction by providing a refund should certain unexpected occurrences stop them from getting to the race,” says Sarah McGrath, Customer Service Director at Red Frog Events, the company behind Warrior Dash.
