The wispy “Weird Beard Cruzer” is the first of a three-part collaboration between Santa Cruz Skateboards of California and artist-illustrator Jeremy Fish. Fish tells Metro why a hairy ride is the only way to get around.

I haven't had any trouble with hair in the bearings yet, but I’m sure it will happen.

Is this a nod to the hipster trend for beards?
I live in San Francisco where beards have been on trend since the 1960s. I have been wearing a very large beard off and on for almost a decade now and I thought riding around on my facial hair would be fun.
Are you expecting people to tweak and trim the hair into different styles?
I personally don't think trimming and grooming makes any sense. Just let it flow in the wind – keep it natural.
Is the cheeky-looking long-eared creature at the bottom of the board a kind of rabbit or genitalia?
It is a "cheeky" rabbit hiding in the beard. Do people have dicks growing out of their beards? That’s so progressive!
