Spring trend: Mom jeans

Isabel Marant & Milla Jovovich BBQ Party To Celebrate The 1st Year Of The LA Shop Model Laura Love paired her jeans with a feminine blouse and
sandals at a party with her pal Gia Coppola.

Sure, we’ve all made fun of them when looking through old photographs from the ’90s and convinced our parents to throw out a pair (or three), but mom jeans — the high-waisted, slightly tapered-leg denim in lighter, faded washes — are making a comeback. First seen on fashion insiders and celebrities who trawl the best vintage stores, the trend has found its way into major retailers like Urban Outfitters and Topshop, making it accessible to you.
But we’re not saying to go all old school and style them with a fanny pack and high-top white sneakers. Instead, pair the denim with sexy pumps or laid-back sandals for a fresh take. The higher waistband will elongate legs and accentuate curves — not to mention do away with any unsightly muffin tops and plumber’s cracks (not cute).
A baby step toward the trend would be retiring your indigo wash skinnies for a lighter shade of blue, also set to be big for spring.

And if you’re ready to get on board, here are a few pairs we love.
