Starkey Hearing Creates iPhone Hearing Aid

Starkey Hearing Technologies has collaborated with Apple to produce a hearing device that works with the iPhone. This new wireless technology — dubbed Halo — is the first made-for-iPhone hearing aid. It connects via a Bluetooth and a hearing control app, Trulink. It’s available via hearing care professionals.

According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, 36 million American adults suffer from some degree of hearing loss. And, with more and more Americans experiencing hearing loss because of an exposure to loud sounds, the new Starkey hearing aid will attempt to lower the stigma and change the ways people thinking about hearing devices.

The new device can stream audio of any music or media played through the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. It also includes the ability to geotag specific memories, making the daily run to Starbucks that much easier.

The iPhone app TruLink syncs to the device, controlling volume and memories. The app can automatically adapt to a car travel setting, and includes a Find My Hearing Aid feature to prevent loss.

The Starkey Hearing Device will be available for purchase starting March 31.
