The AKA Rittenhouse Square is now available for nightly stays

What do movie stars like Richard Gere, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Lawrence have in common aside from being super famous? They’ve all stayed at the AKA Rittenhouse Square, and now you can, too. The luxury extended stay residential property, that has been a home-away-from-home for celebrities visiting Philadelphia, is now opening its doors for nightly stays in one of its 78 suites.

So why the sudden change? Philly’s surge in tourism in recent years — with over 3.1 million overnight hotel stays in 2014 — played a major part as well as the closing of the Four Seasons Hotel.

Larry Korman, President of AKA, comments: “Our hometown city of Philadelphia is more vibrant than ever before, and with so much exciting growth we feel it is the perfect time to enhance our offerings to accommodate all visitors’ unique desires.”

Besides possibly bumping into someone famous in the elevators, visitors will love everything AKA Rittenhouse has to offer. For starters, the location can’t be beat — looking over the 7-acre Rittenhouse Square Park as well as the hustle and bustle of Walnut Street — home to some of the best dining and retail options in the city.

As far as the property itself, recent renovations include a redesign of all suites by Edward Asfour and Nicholas Cardone, for a more modern feel. From wire-brushed hardwood floors to custom upholstered furniture to Apple TVs, a sense of newness is in the air of this historic building.

Other conveniences include in-suite dining from the award-winning a.bar and a.kitchen; a gym with equipment supplied by high end manufacturer, Technogym; a full service business center with a conference room; same day dry-cleaning and laundry service; a dedicated doorman and resident services team; and a 24-hour front desk.

“Some guests want the self-sufficiency of a residence over a room even when staying for a shorter period — a full kitchen, a separate living room and private staff,” Korman says.

So what’s next for AKA Rittenhouse? A rooftop terrace in addition to a screening room and cinema in the near future, according to Korman.

With so much love coming from its Hollywood clientele, it’s no wonder AKA continues to roll out the red carpet with their offerings. Richard Gere has described the suites as “very open” and “inspiring” while Jennifer Lawrence exuberantly expressed “being a big fan” of AKA.

“Philly is a great city to film in,” Korman says. “David O’Russell and his team all wanted to return for another movie here.”

AKA Rittenhouse Square is located at 135 S. 18th St.
