The Word: A very Nicolas Cage weekend

Sources say a “very drunk” Cage and his wife, Alice Kim, were in New Orleans on Friday, arguing loudly outside, prompting a taxi driver to alert the police.

Nicolas Cage is crazy, can we all just agree on this? He buys castles and houses the way you and I buy articles of clothing (but doesn’t pay the taxes on them); he won an Oscar, yet he still appears in films such as “Bangkok Dangerous.” And the guy named his son Kal-El, after Superman’s birth name. So the following gossip item is no surprise:

Sources say a “very drunk” Cage and his wife, Alice Kim, were in New Orleans on Friday, arguing loudly outside, prompting a taxi driver to alert the police. When they arrived, Cage reportedly taunted the cops with, “Why don’t you just arrest me?” Eventually, the officers obliged. (Note to world: That is a stupid thing to ask.) Kim is reportedly denying any domestic violence occurred and is not planning to press charges.

But here’s the weird part ...

After his arrest, Cage got some help from an unlikely pal: Reality star Dog the Bounty Hunter reportedly posted Cage’s $11,000 bail, according to E! News. “I am a truly dedicated fan of Mr. Cage and will not be granting any interviews about my client as I wish to respect his privacy,” Dog, whose real name is Duane Chapman, says. Yes, this is strange, but maybe every celebrity has their own B-list guardian angel? Like, if John Travolta were to get arrested, Bethenny Frankel would show up with the bail.
