The Tooth Fairy isn’t bringing joy to everyone.
The Campaign for Commercial-Free Childhood is upset about a new book that features the legendary tooth-taker.
“The Real Tooth Fairies” is a new line of merchandise including books, music, games and “starter kits” with a fairy outfit and book.
But the campaign says that this commercializes a biological milestone.
The items replace children’s creativity with “homogenized, corporate-constructed, sexualized images,” the group says, adding that the fairies seem too concerned with appearance, shopping and boyfriends.
"We are proud of the experience we have created, and the feedback we receive about the brand is overwhelmingly positive from parents and children alike," the company said in a statement.
