There’s nothing as good as a strong cup of coffee. Or maybe there is: a free cup of coffee! In honor of National Coffee Day (yes, it exists) on Sept. 29, shops all over New York are offering free cups of black magic and plenty of sweet deals this weekend.

Krispy Kreme(which has existed since 1937!) will celebrate by giving out small coffees and selling 12 oz. mocha, latte or iced coffee — including a Pumpkin Spice Latte — all for $1 at participating locations. They also have an online competition where 12 winners will get free Krispy Kreme coffee for a year. The competition ends Sept. 29.

Dunkin’ Donutsis offering guests three exciting deals during the weekend of Sept. 28-29:In stores only on Sept. 29, guests can receive a free small hot or iced Dunkin’ Donuts coffee at participating U.S. locations, available only by using the Dunkin’ App, the brand’s app for mobile payment and gifts.

Online and in stores, guests can take home Dunkin’ Donuts’ 16-ounce packaged coffees for only $5.99 (limit of two per guest). In stores, guests can purchase Dunkin’ Donuts K-Cup packs at a special price of $7.99 for a 14-count box (limit of two per guest).

Here is something for the true coffee enthusiast. How about a coffee tasting, workshop in coffee brewing or a coffee entrepreneurs roundtable discussion (this must be the G8 meeting in the barista universe)? All this and more is offered at the opening of Counter Culture Coffee‘snew training center, Sep. 27-28 at 376 Broome St.

Of course,Starbucksis getting in on the action too. On Sept. 29, you’ll get some history along with your mocha:To honor the mother country of coffee production, a single-origin, medium roast coffee called Ethiopia is on the day’s bean menu. Get a free tasting, and with purchase of a 16 oz. bag of Ethiopia, a free Ethiopia-inspired tasting cup.

And the festivities don’t stop on Monday. Stop by Nespresso‘s pop-up shop at Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Station from Oct. 1-4 to find your best coffee match with the help of a real-time algorithm. And now through Oct. 4, FreshDirect is giving away half-pound bags of three types of FreshDirect Coffee (French Vanilla, Colombian Supremo, Breakfast Blend) with standard minimum orders.

With Folger’s Coffee Break World Record attempt, you get a chance to be a part of a Guinness World Record and to win prizes like a Folgers mug (500 available) or a $100 VISA® gift card (100 available).
