You’ll soon be able to brew Campbell’s soup in your Keurig

Some would maybe argue that coffee machines are for coffee making. And it wouldn’t be completely unfounded. But starting next year you’ll also be brew soup in yours. Campbell Soup Company and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters have recently announced an unusual partnership: Campbell’s Fresh-Brewed Soup.

Campbell’s Fresh-Brewed Soup consists of a broth cup that can be brewed in the K-cup coffee machine and poured over an included packet of dry pasta and vegetable blend garnish. (Garnish? Really?) They expect to launch three varieties of the new soup, including Homestyle Chicken Broth & Noodle.

According to the companies, the enterprise is a way to meet an increasing consumer need for ultra convenient snacking options. Recent studies show that snacking is a growing behavior among U.S. consumers, with more than half snacking multiple times a day. Consumers are also looking for snacks that serve as mini-meals to satisfy hunger.

At Metro, we can’t help but wonder what will be next.
